Statistics teaching in South America

Abstract

This session will deal with the teaching of statistics in South America.

The presentations will explore the different statistics programmes, experiences, strategies, and research projects that are underway, or are being developed in Latin-American countries. For example, the speakers will be talking about:
  • the qualifications of professional people who teach statistics in Brazil;
  • the characteristics of teaching and learning statistics in colleges in a region of Argentina;
  • the relationships between mathematics and applied statistics in Mexico; and
  • a project to promote Spanish language publications on statistics teaching.
