Abstract

On-line testing and grading of a statistics course at a tertiary institution using Scientific Workplace (Version 5) exam builder will be shown. This project involves the programming of statistics questions and answers in a database, from which an examination can be generated. The questions asked are multiple choice and they carry variable part marks. Students can take these examinations on-line and have them graded immediately.

Various topics in descriptive as well as inferential statistics are covered. In this demonstration, a typical examination will be generated, answered and graded immediately on-line. Also, various aspects of the database will be examined and discussed.

A Spanish version of this demonstration will also be given using a separate data base with questions and answers in Spanish.
