Writing about research: open meeting of the Statistics Education Research Journal

Organizer

Abstract

Are you interested in having your research published in a peer-reviewed professional journal? Do you want to learn more about the scientific peer-review process and how to overcome challenges that both novice and experienced authors face in writing a research paper? Come to attend the Open Meeting of the Statistics Education Research Journal (SERJ), an IASE journal. Members of the SERJ Editorial Board will discuss the journal's goals, review types of manuscripts being sought, and explain submission and refereeing processes. We will present examples for common problems found in manuscripts being submitted (e.g., in research design, data analysis, reporting of results, writing of conclusions), and provide suggestions for prospective authors who consider submitting a research-oriented paper, whether to SERJ or to other journals. This session may also be of interest to graduate students working on their dissertations and to Statistics educators who expect their students to summarize research projects in a written report.
