IPUMS and IDHS Part 2: Teaching statistics with free online data from international censuses and health surveys

Description

The IPUMS (Integrated Public Use Microdata Series, https://www.ipums.org) and the IDHS (Integrated Demographic & Health Surveys) are dissemination projects of the Minnesota Population Center (MPC). A leading developer and disseminator of demographic data, the MPC serves a broad audience of over 60,000 demographic and health researchers worldwide. The MPC partners with national statistical offices and other organizations worldwide to provide integrated and harmonized microdata and metadata free of charge to researchers and educators.

Part 2: Curriculum and teacher training planning session

Registration and attendance in Part 1 (Workshop A1) is required.

The IPUMS-International project is launching an initiative to "train the trainers" to ensure that the census and survey data contributed by partners in the national statistical offices are made available to the educators and researchers in their own countries. The afternoon session is for those morning session attendees who are interested in helping design a training manual and curriculum materials for workshops to train the trainers.
