Integrating consulting with graduate education

Abstract
Many students learn statistics most intensely while enrolled in higher degrees. At this stage they are strongly motivated to understand and apply sound statistical methods, because they have a direct interest. In this context, there is a vital strategic opportunity to provide targeted statistical education to an attentive audience — an all too rare combination of circumstances. Their exposure to statistics during this phase also has the potential to shape their attitude to statistics in their subsequent careers, academic or otherwise. This session will explore models of statistical assistance to such students, and their effectiveness.Papers
