Abstract

Please note: this workshop is full. People who want to be placed on a waiting list should contact the workshop organizer directly (iddo@research.haifa.ac.il).

This half-day pre-conference workshop is offered to new researchers in statistics education. (Participation is limited to those who are advanced doctoral students or who finished their doctoral studies over the last 3 years.) The workshop is designed to support the ability of young researchers to plan and transform their ongoing research into publishable papers in peer-reviewed journals, and to contribute to current research-based knowledge in statistics education. Key topics include: how peer-reviewed journals work and what are their expectations, typical problems with submitted papers, understanding reports from referees and editors, dealing with revisions and communication with editors, and genera aspects of planning research and effective academic writing. The workshop will involve several presentations, hands-on examples, and discussions, and is led by researchers with editorial and refereeing experience. Registration will be on a first come - first serve basis and will be done as part of the ICOTS registration process. For more details contact Iddo Gal (U. of Haifa. Israel): iddo@research.haifa.ac.il.
