The ISIbalo project

Presenter

Abstract

The ISIbalo Capacity Building Programme was developed as a principal legacy programme for the 57th session of the ISI which was held in Durban South Africa, in August 2009, and the initial signs appear to deliver much more! This program aims to leave a lasting legacy of having the ISI in Sub-Saharan African soil for the first time in 122 years!

The main aim of the ISIbalo programme is to promote scholarly participation and expertise in the core areas of Statistics, to ensure ongoing participatory activities in the key focus areas of statistical development through the promotion of research in the statistical sciences, to build human capacity and in general to bridge the divide through working cooperatively in statistics education in South Africa, SADC and Africa in general.

We will discuss the main focus areas of the project, giving a full account of what has been achieved to date as well as outlining future plans and developments for the ISIbalo project.
