Official statistics in statistics education:links between IASE and IAOS

Abstract
There is a strong connection between the working spectrum of IASE and IAOS at the present time since participants (students, pupils, etc.) in the educational process are future or current employees of national statistical institutes, future users of official statistics and/or future data providers.Therefore, it is extremely important to involve national statistical institutes in the educational process by developing school corners at official websites, by supporting the education in the field of official statistics by offering presentations of NSIs, by enabling students to be involved in the real working processes at the NSIs, and by active participation in various projects to increase the level of statistical literacy. Training of different kind of users of statistics is a demanding challenge for universities as well as NSIs.
On the other hand, the opposite direction of cooperation IASE → IAOS is at the same level of importance: participation in statistical producers’ competence building programmes, cooperation in developing of methodologies, further analyses of collected data, promotion of official statistics, and external auditing with the purpose to increase the quality of products and services of official statistics.
The main focus of this section will be the importance of strengthening of both directions of the IASE – IAOS cooperation and the development of tools to enable it.
