First steps in publishing statistics education research

Abstract
Please note: this workshop is full. People who want to be placed on a waiting list should contact the workshop organizer directly (iddo@research.haifa.ac.il).This half-day pre-conference workshop is offered to new researchers in statistics education. (Participation is limited to those who are advanced doctoral students or who finished their doctoral studies over the last 3 years.) The workshop is designed to support the ability of young researchers to plan and transform their ongoing research into publishable papers in peer-reviewed journals, and to contribute to current research-based knowledge in statistics education. Key topics include: how peer-reviewed journals work and what are their expectations, typical problems with submitted papers, understanding reports from referees and editors, dealing with revisions and communication with editors, and genera aspects of planning research and effective academic writing. The workshop will involve several presentations, hands-on examples, and discussions, and is led by researchers with editorial and refereeing experience. Registration will be on a first come - first serve basis and will be done as part of the ICOTS registration process. For more details contact Iddo Gal (U. of Haifa. To be held in the Cisef Meeting Room in the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana (FELU).
FELU (Kardeljeva pl. 17, 1000 Ljubljana) is 5-10 minutes from the City Centre by taxi or about 20 minutes by city bus (lines 6, 8 or 21). Both rooms are to the right of the main entrance (opposite the FELU Reception). FELU Art Gallery is located in the hall between the two rooms; this is where the refreshments will be served during the breaks. FELU will provide technical assistance to the lecturers.
