New paradigms in teaching statistics through technology



So many i- and e-tools simply allow us to deliver long-standing teaching models a little bit more efficiently. At worst it is the same-old, same-old captured and transmitted electronically in that vain hope that the medium can revive the message and magically engage a turned-off world. This session aims to showcase advances where the technology is at the core and opens up exciting new pedagogical possibilities. Talks should address questions such as the following. What are the learning goals? What are the exciting new pedagogical possibilities opened up by the technologies? What important goals can now be pursued that were previously out of reach? What boring stuff can now be dumped? How does this technology help us better connect with students “where they live”? (i.e. on levels they really care about.) What are guiding principles in design, delivery and usage? Where does the excitement come from? What evidence is there of effective learning?
