This is a session of Topic 9: Technology and multimedia in statistics education
Session 9F (Friday 13th, 14:00-15:30, Level 2 - Seminar Room 2)
Using data visualization to build statistical thinking
Organizer
- Victoria Woodard (United States)
Session chair: Victoria Weber
Abstract
Advances in technology tools affords highly interactive and dynamic ways of visualizing data. In this session, researchers and educators discuss how data visualizations can promote experiences with multivariate data, develop understanding of abstract ideas such as regression modeling, and confront misconceptions. Presenters will discuss how these different visualizations can impact students’ conceptual development of statistical ideas in three different collegiate settings.
