Using R for effective teaching of Statistics
Organizer
- Jung Jin Lee (Korea) : Session chair
Abstract
Although the advantages of R are well-known, it is not the first choice among college students, especially those not majoring in mathematics or statistics. A problem that appears when teaching R is that, given the great potential of the software, the temptation is to focus immediately on the more advanced analysis. Basic visualizations and summaries of data should be given first, followed by modeling of data and some inferential statistics. In this session online modules for R and a web platform for sharing codes of R are presented.
