Abstract
Data science is a rapidly growing field that consists of a blend of computational and statistical thinking. A growing number of institutions are offering advanced degrees and undergraduate degrees, but the role of data science education at the school level has not been studied well. In this session, presenters will discuss current curricula in data science, the current state of research in data science education, and look into what the future holds. We will focus on fundamental ideas for data science at school level and its relation to the emerging field of data science as an interdisciplinary field drawing on ideas from statistics and computer science. The relation to the role "data" play in the social life of students, including a broad understanding of data awareness and issues of protection of private data will be included. Moreover, experiences, materials and conceptions of development projects will be presented.
