This is a session of Topic 9: Technology and multimedia in statistics education
Session 9A (Tuesday 10th, 11:00-12:30, Terrsa Hall)
Supporting students doing data analysis by using digital tools designed for use by students
Organizer
- Daniel Frischemeier (Germany)
Session chair: Dani Ben-Zvi
Abstract
In the session, several digital tools and their use by students are presented. The presented tools (Tinkerplots, INZight, Codap) have been developed to support students’ entrance into doing data analysis. These relatively easy to learn tools are supportive for new interactive ways of working with data and do not create new obstacles for students by forcing them to learn a complicated toll beforehand. The session discusses requirements for such supportive tools as well as their uses in diverse educational settings.
