Abstract
Mathematics or statistics teachers play a key role in becoming a statistical literate society. Thus a teacher who has a high degree of statistical literacy and who is willing to act as an agent for statistical literacy in school is a prerequisite for statistical literate students and, for this reason, a prerequisite for a statistical literate society. This session addresses some issues of teachers‘ statistical literacy. Paper 1 gives an overview about recommendations to strengthen teachers‘ statistical literacy. Paper 2 and 3 focus on preservice and in-service teachers and their development in teaching of statistics.
